Olivier, Christian, and Virginia from the SWEN Blue Ocean team had a blast at the 1000 Ocean Startups Annual Gathering in Amsterdam. It was fun to see old and new faces in the 1000 Ocean Startups Coalition, and we are excited to see how the network continues to grow and evolve. Highlights include:
Approaches to ocean impact measurement: Katapult, SWEN Blue Ocean, and S2G co-hosted a deep dive on our impact measurement processes, with concrete details to help other members integrate the Ocean Impact Navigator (OIN) within their impact management framework. Work on aggregating Ocean Impact Navigator indicators from across the coalition continued day 2 in the OIN Working Group.
UN Ocean Conference Preparation: The 1000 Ocean Startups Coalition members met to plan on how we will make innovation central to discussions at the 3rd UN Ocean Conference, which will convene in Nice, France in June 2025.
Mapping the Ecosystem and avenues to support ocean innovators: Members learned about alternative capital structures to finance ocean innovation in a deep dive hosted by Builders Vision and Conservation International Ventures. On day 2, members continued to learn about each other’s approaches to supporting ocean startups in the Ocean Catalysts working group, with the goal of mapping out this growing ecosystem.
Huge thanks to members of the Lighthouse for organizing this amazing event and to our fellow 1000 Ocean Startups Coalition members for your enthusiasm and collaboration!
